An update on the COVID-19 pandemic situation

The Victorian Government has announced an end to the current lockdown from 11.59pm Thursday 21 October 2021, which includes the removal of restrictions on the provision of dental care. The Chief Health Officer has confirmed that dental practices can resume the full range of dental services for patients from Friday 22 October 2021.

In line with our COVID Safe plan, appropriate patient screening and precautions will continue.

How are we are protecting you?

Good hand hygiene has proven to be the most effective way of reducing the spread of COVID-19 (as well as other seasonal flus). Don't be offended but we ask all visitors to sanitise their hands on entering the practice.
Upon arrival, all patients and accompanying carers (though we ask to come alone if possible) will have their temperature checked. A fever is one of the signs of COVID-19 infection.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has always been utilised by staff at EDG. Additional precautions such as the use of face shields and a screen guard at reception will help protect against COVID-19.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus (which causes COVID-19) is present in saliva. To reduce the potential spread of any virus whilst working in the mouth, all patients will gargle with a 1.5% hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse which has been shown to be effective eliminating the coronavirus.
In dentistry, a lot of our procedures generate aerosols (water droplets). In addition to the preprocedural mouth rinse, we will utilise protective protocols; such as rubber dam and hand scaling, to reduce the amount of aerosols produced.
In addition to our strict daily and weekly cleaning schedules, EDG have increased environmental cleaning of high traffic areas. This means surfaces such as door handles, waiting room areas and surgeries are thoroughly cleaned between each patient.
